- Ductus arteriosus is a foetal vessel connecting the aorta - just distal
to the originof lt. subclavian artery- with the bifurcation
of the main pulmonary artery or with its left branch. Normally, it closes
shortly after birth.
- Patent ductus arteriousis results when the duct fails to close. it is
more common in female.
